Protector's Flame Safety Lamps have been in constant use since 1873 and the GR6S Garforth miners lamp is still the approved method of checking for firedamp in all UK coal mines.A modified version of this lamp has carried the flame for most Olympic and other torch relays over the last 30 years.

We are the distributor for the next generation of cap lamps and head torches. The KL range from Jiebotech offers cordless rechargeable led technology for cap lamps and head torches. They combine lightweight with extended battery life and are maintenance free. They are the perfect solution for providing personal lighting for miners,confined space workers, fire and rescue, cavers and for industrial users.

Both AtEx and non AtEx lamps are available.

Lamp Fuel

Most round wick lamps use Colzalene/Relighter Spirit.

All spark ignition lamps use this type of fuel as does our SL Lamp.You can use Ronson or Zippo lighter fuel if you cannot get hold of Relighter Spirit.

It is generally flat wick lamps such as our 1A Lamp which burn paraffin/kerosene or lamp oil. These are usually lamps which can be lit with a naked flame.

The Olympic Torch Relay lamps burn paraffin or kerosene.
