Protector Lamp flame goes out. Are you having problems keeping your Protector Lamp/miners lamp lit.
The most common problem is fuel and fuel transfer up the wick. You need to use Colemans Camping Stove fuel or cigarette lighter fuel in spark ignition miners lamps.
Do not use lamp oil! If the lamps have not been used for a while or the wrong fuel has been used that can cause issues. Remove the trimming wick (videos on our web site on wick replacement) and immerse the vessel in fuel and leave it overnight. Remove the vessel from the fuel and tip it upside down and drain off the liquid fuel. The fuel that has soaked into the felts in the tank will burn for up to 14 hours. Put in a new wick and wait till the fuel has soaked up it. Put it back in the lamp and fire it up.Good luck.

Well worth a visit, and if you make a suitable donation to the museum Billy in the Lamp Room will service your lamp.
